Hi, Tek-Tippers! I have two Excel sheets and I want to use VLookup to find some values, but it's not working. I found out the format of the lookup cell is not correctly working. Both columns show General format. The Vlookup didn't work so I changed them both to Text, which is actually what the data is. The Vlookup still didn't work.

After trying many different things and getting some in-office help, we found the data in one of the Excel sheets is not changing format, until we actually touch the cell. I have to literally double-click in each cell before the format shows as Text and the Vlookup works.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I need a way to format the data without touching each cell. Help!

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Try data, Text to Columns

or multiply by 1 (edit, pastespecial, multiply)
