Excel 2003 through Terminal Services on Windows 2003 Server.

User works on a file (on and off all day), saves it frequently, it does not return an error and seems like it has saved successfully. User returns the next morning to find that the file exists but it empty. This happens intermittently and has happened to 2 different users, satisfying me that this is not user error. There is nothing in the application log or system log to indicate a problem or a crash. I have saved the file while having Filemon running and it writes to the filesystem successfully (but like I mentioned this is an intermittent problem and possibly not occuring at the time of monitoring).

Has anyone encountered anything similar to this in the past? Anyone have any ideas as to why this is occurring?

Thanks in advance for any help & assistance,
Dominic

2 things I can think of:

1: User is saving to a different location than the one they opened the file from. Changes are saved to different location so when user opens file from original location, changes appeat to not have been made. This can be checked by looking at the Last Modified date

2: Folder / Files have been restored from backup which does not have the latest data - would've thought this would be quiite obvious though - again - check the Last Modified date on the file

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
