Excel 2003 Chart Series - 'send to back' 1

Hi Guys,

I have a number of line charts in Excel that track sales v budgets. In some cases the figures exactly match (hurrah!), but can I choose which series line and markers are on the top?

For example, at this point I only have sales for March, whilst I have budget for the whole of 2010.

This means that on some charts the sales line and markers are in front and therefore visible, and on others the budget figures are in front, and therefore the sales figure line and markers are obscured.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Hi Skip - I have done that, as each line chart also has a data table, and I want each chart to show figures in the data table in the same order.

It doesn't seem toniove the lines and markers in front of the 'budget' series though unfortunately.

any other ideas?

Is the budget series on a secondary axis or a different chart type?

It isn't - just a standard line chart with markers - four data series (actual, LY, budget, estimate) - no legend, data table with legend keys - um.... data series re-ordered to all be in the same order over many graphs.... um... series recoloured in some cases but not in others.

I can't think of any other information that might help narrow this down to be honest.

How 'bout posting the source data (scrub the labels)

These are the sorts of figures in the order they appear in the spreadsheet - I want the Actual 2010 to be 'on top' in my line chart you see. Thanks in advance.

plotting that data I get Actual 2010 on top without having to do anything.

It does seem strange. When you look at the series order is Actual 2010 the lowest series?

Did you START your chart, by defining this source exactly as posted. Or did you start with something else and add a series?

I plotted your data and the LAST row series (Actual 2010) plotted ON TOP.

Changing the Series Order for that series, removes it from ON TOP. Restoring that series to the LAST position, displayes it ON TOP of all other series.

Oh - Does that mean I have to show it as the very last series then and therefore bottom of the data table?

Ahh... one sees grasshopper.
