I'm using a pivot chart in Excel 2002. Whenever I change one of the pivot fields, the formatting of the data on the chart is lost. Even though I set the data lines to custom, the pivot fields seem to reset them when they are changed. Thanks!

I will answer my own question...it appears that this could be a bug in excel. One way to get around it is to create a macro that applies all of the formatting. If you want this macro to be driven automatically, call the macro from the worksheet's change handler (the one that contains the pivot table). This way, whenever the worksheet changes, which is whenever the pivot table changes, the formatting macro runs.

Bryan,

I played around with this one and came to the same conclusion. There is a Preserve Formatting checkbox in the Pivot Table Options, but it is grayed out in the Pivot Chart Options.

So a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
