I cannot remember doing anything to make it happen but, for the past few days, every time I enter a number into ANY spreadsheet it appears with a decimal point and three zeroes in front of it. For example if I key in "1" then I see "0.0001". The cell format is reported as "General". When I try to format my way out of the problem the number either truncates or elongates, but doesn't change its essential value.

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this, please?

Absolutely correct. I wonder how it happened, as I don't remember doing it!

Many thanks - it was driving me mad.
