Recently everytime I open a CLOSED Excel spreadsheet I get "Reopening will cause any changes you have made to be discarded. Do you want to reopen xxxxx.xls?"

Since the spreadsheet is not open, I take a yes, make changes and save. Next time I open, same problem. The only Add in I have is Crystal Report Writer. I tried turning that off, no change.

Thanks
Donna

Hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE and look in your running processes.
Is there only one instance of excel.exe?

If there are multiple phantom excel processes running, try closing them and see if the problem persists.

HTH,

Peter.

Remember- It's nice to be important,
but it's important to be nice :)

Thanks. I had checked that. This is what I did and it seems to have worked now for a couple of days..
I closed Excel then opened Windows Explorer, clicked on Tools, then Folder Options, then File Types tab. I found .xls then clicked on advanced, then highlighted OPEN, clicked the Edit radio button, then UNCHECKED DDE. I then tried opening several spreadsheets, no problem. If I look back, the DDE button is now checked (guess it reverts back).

Thanks
Donna
