Excel 2000 Import into Act 2007

I have a database of around 30,000 contacts. What I am trying to do is the following:

I have a spreadsheet of about 3000 email addresses that are already in the database, but I know these are bad email addresses. I made another column that basically is titled bad email. My rational thought is that when I imported the email addresses back into act they would merge with the original, but update for instance User Field 3 with the "bad email". I thought this would be nice so I can just do a lookup by example and be able to pull those 3000 contacts much easier.

Obviously it didn't work. Am I doing something wrong or do I need a different tool
