I need help rolling up a bunch of data into groups/ an outline.

I captured the data that I need using Crystal Reports, but now have a lot of lines of data that is difficult to mine through.

I've seen this done before and, using excel help file, I've figured out that it is done using the Groups/Outlines feature under the data menu. But I can't seem to get it to roll up into the groups properly.

Basically what I have is about 40 contractors that I need to determine how many service calls they are running for each half-hour increment for each day of the week on a monthly basis. so I have three groups and details. For example, I want it to look like this:

- Joseph's Communications
- Sunday
- 08:00
- State Police GPS install - 3 service calls
- Vehicle modem replacement - 1 service call
- 08:30
- GPS software upgrade
- MDT Installation
+ 09:00
+ 09:30
+ 10:00

I'm hoping this makes sense. I may have blabbered myself into incoherence. I've attached the URL to a file showing the test sample that I'm working on. As you will see, I'm not getting the result I hoped for. It doesn't have real data from the database in it (no names of real companies that I know of... so I apologize if it happens to have a real company name). I just created a few fake names for this example and for my test before I try it on the real data.

Hi,

Organize your data...
[tt]
Name Day Time Task Hrs

Joseph's Communications Sunday 8:00 AM Vehicle GPS installation 3
Joseph's Communications Sunday 8:00 AM Vehicle Modem repair 1
Joseph's Communications Sunday 8:30 AM
Joseph's Communications Sunday 8:30 AM
Joseph's Communications Monday 8:30 AM
Willy's Communication Sunday 8:00 AM Vehicle GPS installation 4
Willy's Communication Sunday 8:00 AM Vehicle Modem repair 2
Willy's Communication Sunday 8:30 AM
Bob's Wireless Security Sunday 8:00 AM Vehicle GPS installation 0
Bob's Wireless Security Sunday 8:00 AM Vehicle Modem repair 2
Bob's Wireless Security Sunday 8:30 AM
[/tt]
Use Data > Subtotal...
1. subtotal Replacing Current Subtotals on Name
2. subtotal without Replacing Current Subtotals on Day

Use Format > Condiional Formatting to make sucseeding row duplicate values "disappear" by shading the font the same color as the cell background.

Skip,

[glasses]Just traded in my old subtlety...
for a NUANCE![tongue]

Ah! Thanks!!! I figured it was something with the way that it was organized... but I couldn't find anything in the help files or online showing how to organize it. Thanks again!
