Excel 2000 - Display Dates 1

Can anyone help please?

I have input a date into a cell (2/2/2005) on a worksheet and this is displayed as a serial number.

I clicked on format/cells and selected date but cell stills displays serial number.

On returning to format/cells it shows as date as I had previously set it.

Can anyone advise me on how to display dates within cells?

I am using Excel 2000 and Windows 2000.

Hi,

Are you saying that the value displayed is 38385 dispite the FORMAT of the cell.

Look at Tools/Options - View Tab, Window options -- is the Formulas box checked?

UNCHECK Formulas.
