Hi,

I protected a worksheet and unlock some cells for editing. When I do that I cannot sort or use data filtering of the worksheet. Is there any way around this?

Thanks.

I can't remember if you can do this in 2000 or not but in 2002 when you choose protect worksheet it gives you options of what you want to allow users to do. Sorting and filtering are two of the choices.

Eric

Selecting Sorting and Filtering when turning on protection only works in Excel 2002. I would suggest using a macro to do this. Have the macro present a form to the user, giving choices of how to sort the data, once the form is filled out, have macro turn off protection, do the sort, then turn protection back on. If necessary, you could have macro request password.

We are in the process of getting Office 2002. Thanks for your input!
