Hi all

I've been working with sql server 2000 in the dba role for about 2yrs now and I am looking at attain the mcdba certification. I bought a study guide for 70-228 from osborne-mcgrawhill about 8 months ago but never really got down to it due to the fact that microsoft certification doesn't carry the weight that it once did and the cost just wasn't worth it at the time.

I work for a software company that is a microsoft certified partner and they need to renew their partnership but need 4 mcps to do this. THere are currently only 2 since two employees who had their entire mcsd have moved on. They need to renew before the end of January 2003 I think, so I have 8 weeks to get ready and under pressure to write.

I am looking at either exam 70-228 or 70-229 but have a few questions that I hope you guys can answer. WIth 70-228 replication will be my weak point as I we don't use it and with 70-229 the XML part will be my downfall.

Which one should I start with?

I'm not necessarily looking for the easiest one but perhaps the one that companies might hold in a higher regard.

I want to do this properly by going through a book, BOL, internet resources, transcenders etc. I might try some braindumps a couple of days before the exam but I don't want to go the "cram sessions" way at all!

Is 7/8 weeks enough time? I need pass first time, I can't afford not to.

Did I buy the correct study guide?

Are there any websites that would aid me in my studies?

Any input and help would be appreciated

Thanks

John

I defintely wouldn't do the exam without trying the transcender exam first. I thought I was ready for the exam before I tried it. Afterwards I defintitely was but without it I would have falied. It is a great study tool aswell as it illustrates why the answer is the correct answer. You can also get the flash cards fact learning tool with it which is a great way of learning/testing straight facts and knowledge.
