Is anyone using an Exabyte EZ17 Tape Library? I'm having trouble configuring mine, and I would like to know if anyone has had similar problems. It shows up in the SCSI Adapter when I boot up the server as an EZ17 with a Mammoth drive, too. Then, ARCserve shows it as a Mammoth 2 and EXB210, but the EXB210 shows "offline" even though it isn't. Any suggestions?

Hey cgwillard,

You may need to check if your tape drive is on the supported hardware list. I suggest going to the Arcserve website and check there. Also, have you tried applying the patch for the latest Tape Library option? Give that a shot first and see how you make out.

Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks for the tip. It is supported by ARCserve, and I had it working fine until I ran into some unrelated issues with the Exchange Agent backup. I uninstalled ARCserve and re-installed it on another partition, and now the library isn't responding properly.

Since this morning I have been able to get it to show "online" and have done some backups. It still doesn't show as EZ17, but I guess I can live with that for a while.

Thanks so much for the advice!

The Exabyte EZ-17 has an emulation mode for the Exabtye 210 library. If the emulation is enabled, the EZ-17 will show in the device lists as EXB-210.

Both devices are supported by Arcserve. The emulation on ours was enabled as well, and I wanted it to be the EZ-17.

The link below has instructions for changing it:

Derek
