HellO!

I think I've read/heard it b4.

SQL2k & ex2k: no good in same box, right?
Why?

Thanks!

Angel

Glad to be here!

Angel,

Ex2k and SQL2k co-exist in SBS Server on the same box.

It can be and is done, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is a good idea. Exchange and SQL both like to use a lot of RAM and both access disks heavily. If you don't have a decent system with respect to RAM/disks, and you have a heavy user-load, then running both can really slow it down.

I have an AMD XP 2600+ with 1 gig ram and a 120 gig HDD running Windows Server 2003, Sql Server 2000, Advantage Database Server, and Exchange Server 2003 and have no problems - however, like crobin1 said, there is a lot of disk access to think about. The system has enough RAM, but it does access the disk a lot (but what database server doesn't?)
