Hi
i am a ex uni student from england
i finished my course(IT) and since then i have only worked in positions unrelated to IT
i have been told that if possible a MSCE/MSDC would help (the mscd cause i intend to program - oneday)
the reason i never get a full time computing position is due to a lack of IT experience
I also know some one who is a few yrs older than me who did the same course and followed it with a msce cause he couldnt find work and almost straight away he waltzed in to a high payed professional job - but this may have just been luck!
what do you seem to think

A few years ago people were looking for MCSD's. Now it seems that they want MCSE's.

With all the dot-com layoffs (I was one), the HR departments now have their pick of candidates. So, instead of hiring someone who is "pretty close" to the job requirements, they are able to find exact matches. If one of the job requirements is a MCSE certification and you haven't got one, you get passed over.

It's unfair, since you might have years and years of experience, and someone who is a "paper MCSE" is the one who gets their resume looked at. But that's just the way it is right now.
