We have a task that fabricates a piece of equipment. The resources in human terms build up costs as they charge to the job. To set the baseline for our customer we also have to incorporate the cost of the sale of the piece of equipment completed at the end of the task as a one time charge.

Can this type of dual cost collection be done?

We are also trying to understand incremental cost collection for the piece of equipment build as its a 6-8 month fabrication process and we get to charge for work incurred including partials against the material.

We want to use project as it is time based and EVMS is also time based such that if the schedule moves all the EVMS cost changes get tracked by the schedule changes/resource allocation changes.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

View > Gantt
Insert "Fixed Cost" and "Fixed Cost Accrual" and then set "Fixed Cost Accrual" to "end".

Costing in Project is based on (other than the fixed cost) the amount of Actual Work * Resource rate.

The Resource rates can be found on
View > Resource sheet
double-click on a resource
click on the Costs tab.

The costs incurred can be found on
View > Task Usage
On the left side:
insert the column "Actual Cost"
On the right side:
RightMouseButton on the grid
Select "Actual Cost"
