This problem is driving me crazy.
Every time I restart my PC, the wireless won't connect. I have to disable/enable the adapter in network connections, and then it connects fine. But it never connects automatically after a restart.
I have an HP notebook with built-in wireless (HP WLAN 802.11a/b/g W500). I just downloaded the latest driver for this from HP's website.
I am running XP-Pro SP2 and have a NetGear wireless router (MR814v2) with the latest driver. This problem does not happen on my other laptop that is using a Cisco wireless adapter.
Any ideas?

It is a driver issue:
You should experiment using the native Wireless Zero Configuration service, and using the client software that comes with the adapter (Wireless Zero Configuration service stopped).

In some cases it helps to use the Group Policy setting to wait for the network at logon: To disable the fast logon "feature" and restore your logons to their normal speed, do a Start, Run, gpedit.msc. Under Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->System-->Logon, change "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" to ENABLED.

I actually powered off my DSL router, and my wireless router, then restarted them both. Now my laptop seems to be connecting after resarts. If the problem comes up again, I will try your suggestion. Thanks!
