I'm having the symptoms described in this three year old thread.

thread730-582449

Netgear WGR614 as AP. Intel 2200BG in a laptop.

All firmware and drivers up-to-date.

Can this be a case of everything old is new again, or is there something new causing this problem?

Either install the WPA2 update to XP SP2 or install SP3. I'd also verify the firmware on the Netgear AP.

Andy

Laptop is already running XP SP3. Netgear firmware is the latest.

I have recently had a HP NC6000 replaced due to a hardware failure but prior to that I used the Intel 2200BG WiFi adapter on my home wireless (and lots of other Wireless networks) without issue. I use WPA2/AES at home and have never had any issues with it. I installed the WPA2 updates as soon as they were released from MS and changed the Authentication/Encryption on my WiFi AP at the same time. I have since installed SP3 and still have never had any issues.
I now have a HP 6930p which has an integrated Intel 5100 Wireless adapter and this again has never had any issues (after I updated to SP3 as the IT dept only currently support SP2).
Have you tried a different laptop?

Andy
