this just started happening...everytime i type text into IE6 it crashes....

i have repaired, reinstalled, thorough scan disk, defrag and FULL updated virus scanned my computer....

still no help....

also, when i type into my run command box explorer crashes...
any ideas guys?

Any specific error messages?

I may be stating the obvious but How about video drivers? Are they updated? It has been said that you should pretty much count on updating video drivers every time IE is upgraded.

well, haven't done that but i don't see a reason that would cause problems....i guess i can play around with it

Yes I would agree in a sense with that since you did state that Explorer itself caused the same problem, but I was referenced to that by an MS MVP regarding IE and upgrades (sorry don't have the exact link to that on hand), just figured I'd share that.

What error messages if any, are you getting?

D

well, explorer.exe has caused performed an illegal operation in <unknown>

and

the regular "ie has died, do you want to send the report"

I have exactly the same problem.

Only happens when typing text into address bar.
I can PING an address with no probs. But can't enter the IP either into IE6.

This has only just started to happen to me too.

Has anyone solved this yet?

i haven't solved it but i may have narrowed it down to mcafee virus scan...

i have uninstalled it and i still get the problems, but a majority of the programs that die are related to Mcafee
