every time a user double clicks on an .XLS spreadsheet

it will open in its own instance of execel?

The User can open from Windows explorer or desktop.

Thank You but I guess I did not explain good enough.

Double click on a XLS fil it opens Excel and then opens the file.

Doble click on another XLS file it will open the file in the same instance of excel as the first file. (You can go to windows on the menu bar and select either file.)

I need the second XLS file to open in it's owen instance of excel (as if you when to start program files selected excel then select open and select the file.)

I don't know the answer, or if it can even be done, but can I ask why you would want to use additional system resources to do this?

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

The resone why Ineed this is we have values streaming. This sheet has things looping in it all time and does not allow anything else to open in it's excel intstance.

I may have a solution.

This code:

Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application.IgnoreRemoteRequests = True
Application.DisplayAlerts = True

With this code in the sheet. It will look at this version of excel as its own entity and all other excels open in there open instance.

Sorry for the poorly phrazed question. i will learn to write more informative question in the futre...
