Every Email Goes Bad?

I have a Win2k Server SP3 running IIS/SMTP that is acting strange suddenly. Each time I attempt to send an email, it goes straight into the badmail folder. I get a .bdr, a .bdp, and a .bad file. The .bdr file is the only thing with an error code, 0xC00402C7, which I can't find anything about. I have stopped and started the service with no impact. I can also telnet into the server and generate the message. But like I said, it ends up straight in the badmail folder. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

did you ever resolve this? i'm having the same issues as well. and the asp scripts that i'm using have been working fine for months/years!

Uninstalled/reinstalled SMTP service and that resolved the issue.

ended up doing the same. hope this isn't standard procedure for this thing - every few months re-installing smtp!

I'm curious if you reviewed the log files and found
anything interesting there. (Like smtp errors, etc.)

it was really strange. nothing was giving us any indication. read through some other threads here and on a couple of other forums and the only recourse was to re-install smtp services. we're not the only ones this has happened to evidently. hope it's the last for us as well...

I just had the same problem: message error 0xC00402C7 all messages went to the BADMAIL folder. After making a virtual domain redirect for cetain domains it worked - obviously that was not an option. so I de-installed and re-installed smtp and it works now.

If anyone is still checking this form, i am interested in how to set up the smtp service with iis?

sounds like you all have done this.
I appreciate any help

Gary

I have also just experienced this VERY inconvenient feature of IIS. My colleague is currently reinstalling the SMTP service following the suggestion above. I just hope it works.

We have got about 300 messages (900 files) in the Badmail directory. Is there anything I can do to get IIS to send these messages on?
