I'm thinking of hooking up a PC based home sound system. Basically I want to have a seperate card for each room so that multiple rooms can be playing different songs @ the same time.

Questions:
1. Can you run multiple sound cards on same board?
2. Ever seen any aps that might work to control the cards?

Wouldn't it be easier to put a radio or cd player in each room?

I know you have to dis-able any "on-board" sound system (interupt conflicts) before you can plug in a sound card. Seems the same problems would arise.

Yes, I know it is possible to use at least two sound cards in a single PC (but I have not tried it myself). A discussion about a ham radio application that does this can be found at
A sound card setup program called QuickMix ( might also be useful for your application.

I tried this once with a soundblaster live 5.1 and a sblive audigy.

They didn't play well together and crashed the computer pretty much ay time a sound was played.
