I have an issue on my windows 2000 professional box. The event viewer has not recorded any activity since October of last year. When I try to start the service, it fails and does not start. What could be the possible causes of this?

Any help would be awesome.
Thanks

Make sure Event Logging is enabled: right click My Computer > Manage> d/c Services > right pane
d/c Services > d/c Event log > Startup type "Automatic" Start service if necessary.

If that fails place the Win2K disc in the CD tray and Start>Run type
Code:
 sfc/ scannow
to see if some important files are missing.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll check that out.
