I am getting a Event ID 1000 and Event ID 1001. They both have to do with group policy and Security Policy. Also when I try to start the Active Directory Policy manager, I get a message saying that it couldnt acces a file. I checked the file path and the file is in fact there. To the best of my knowledge access security has not been changed. I have already checked Tech Net and nothing there seems to help with the situation. Any ideas?

Brian

CAUSE
The \\Active Directory Domain Name\Sysvol share is a special share that requires the distributed file system (Dfs) client to make a connection. If the Dfs client is disabled, the error messages are generated.

RESOLUTION

Check the following registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Mup
DisableDFS: REG_DWORD: range: 0 or 1
0 = enabled; 1 = disabled
Default: 0
Make sure that the value is set to 0, enabling the Dfs client. Also, File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks must be enabled on the interface.

Oakie

does this mean that I need to create a REG_DWORD call DisableDFS if it doesn't exist in the registry of my DCs ?

Thanks

Andrew
