IS-IT--Management
System: CE10 (10.0.5.837)
OS: Windows 2000
We've been running CE10 for years now without any problems. No recent changes have been made to the app or server. Then out of nowhere we started having problems last week. On Friday we received notification from clients that they hadn’t received reports. Checked out the scheduler and it looked like everything was running about 7 hours behind. The reports weren’t failing or stuck running, they just weren’t initializing. There was no clock issue on the server. We rebooted the box and since the reboot all reports have been going on time.
Upon investigation, here’s what we’ve found out:
For 5 days leading up to the “crash” frequent errors were showing in the Windows Event viewer.
Errors were:
Source: Crystal_JobServer
Description: Internal Job Server error.
Source: Crystal_jobserverchild
Description: Unable to load dll procReport.
Source: Crystal_JobServer
Descriptions: Subprocess (Job Server Child) could not be started. Reason:
newIJob():: Couldn't get IJob interface or writing IAudit: Pipe
exception. Reason: jobserverchild (CrystalEnterprise.Report, 0,
PipeListener: timed out reading from pipe: No error
Source: Crystal_Jobserverchild
Description: The function CrpeMgrPEOpenEngineEx failed. Reason: The
operation was completed successfully..
While the reboot got everything running on time again, we’re still seeing some weird issues.
1. We're still seeing issues off and on in Event Viewer. These are warnings, not errors. The warning is:
Source: Crystal_WebCompServer
Description: Transport error: No response from server, timeout exceeded.
2. The second issue is that if you access the management console via the web GUI, the Servers page will not load. Everything else in the management console loads correctly. According to the Configuration Manager on the server, all the servers are running correctly. But based on the event viewer issues and not being able to see the servers from the management console I’m worried that we still have issues.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could’ve gone wrong, or what to do to get things “cleaned up” and running smoothly again? Were there specific steps I should’ve taken before/after the reboot?
I have a sitescope alert set up to monitor event viewer errors, so if those come back at least we’ll know about it. We also have monitors on the server’s performance. We have plenty of disk space and free CPU, but memory does peak at around 70% when it’s under the hardest loads.
Any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated. We’re under maintenance with SAP, but because CE10 is no longer supported, they won’t help.
Thanks!
