I am using interbase 5.6 for my Windows NT 4 server (NTFS), and my workstation is running windows 98 SE (FAT32), after all system has been setting up and running, I was encoutered intermittent no live event sending back to the workstation. This problem has been appear quite frequently after 2 years using the system.

Note: my workstation configure to always receive event from all access and alarm trigger activity.

I suspect my workstation Win98SE is difficult to read the database which is stored inside the WinNT4 server (ntfs partition), or winnt4 not recognized FAT32 inside workstation that running Win98SE , can anybody help??

Thanks

NTFS or not doesn't have anything to do with this.

If you're server is doing a POST_EVENT, and your client is listening for this event, it should arrive once you commit the transaction that's raising it.

Thank you for replying me.

But do you have any best solution to resolve it. I have a similar system but is running Windows 2000 Server (NTFS5) the workstation runnning Windows 2000 professional(NTFS5) on other company, all are running Interbase 5.6, and I never encouter any event intermittent not appear after 3 years.

Please advice.

Thank you

Make sure the event alerter is connected - firewalls may block this.

Also, make sure your transaction is committed, else you won't get any events.

Thank you Martin

But which event alerter are you refering to, I have the similar firewall use for both different company similar configuration but just different operating system that I mentioned above.

Note:My event has been configure to be committed by Commserver then workstation will listening to the live event, the system running fine but just intermittent encouter loss event after three years.

YOur advice please and very appreciate

event alerter = your client program that responds to events.

If it's really dropping events, I can't help you -

So it works most of the time, but sometimes it doesn't?

All I can say is to make sure your transaction gets committed...
