Event id's 1706 and 1707-- EXPS function

I'm getting the following events in the application log of our Exchange 2000 server.

Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
Event Category: SMTP Protocol
Event ID: 1707
Description:
An internal EXPS function failed while communicating with "unknown". "CExchAuthContext::HrServerNegotiateClearTextAuth" called "HrCheckClearTextLogin" which failed with error code 0x8007052e ( m:\transmt\src\smtpsink\exps\expslib\authctx.cpp@803 ).

Immediately followed by:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
Event Category: SMTP Protocol
Event ID: 1706
Description:
EXPS is temporarily unable to provide protocol security with "ceefas9dlveu". "CSessionContext::OnEXPSInNegotiate" called "HrServerNegotiateAuth" which failed with error code 0x8007052e ( m:\transmt\src\smtpsink\exps\expslib\context.cpp@1462 ).

These dont seem to be causing any negative effects but I still cant find much info on the web as to what they actually mean or how to remedy the situation.

0x8007052e is a logon failure - bad username or password.

Try the steps in KB843106 to troubleshoot the issue.
