One of the servers developed an error that shows up in the Windows event log but does not seem to affect the backup. The backup appears to be 100% and I can restore, etc. Veritas' solution was to rename the bedssql2.dll file to a .old. After changing the name of the file I got a backup with many skipped files with an unable to open status and they are all Backup Exec folders for the MSSQL files. So, I put the file back to the .dll and all the Exceptions went away. Any suggestions?

We are using an IBM server with a DLT tape drive and Windows 2K.

Are you using the Agent for SQL Server to do your MS SQL Server backups? If not, then Backup Exec cannot make a backup of those files.

I always advise using SQL Server to create backups to disk and then use Backup Exec to copy those backup files to tape.
