I get the following System event messages when trying to write large files to my File server:

Application popup: System process-lost delayed write data: The system was attempting to transfer file data from buffers to <Filename Path>. The write operation failed and only some of the data may have been written to the file.

I have triedlooking on technet, but none of the fixes seem to work for me. Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Checked eventid.net. I tried the redirector fix(Q163401) but it did not fix my problem. I don't think it is a hardware problem because SQL server is loaded on the machine and there are no SQL errors.

I think I've narrowed down the problem to NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a. I believe the problem started last summer after I loaded the service pack. It only started to get worse in the last two months. To the point where the server crashes when I try to write large files to the hard drive. After the reboot everything was fine for awhile. I don't believe it can be a hardware issue because I am not having problems with a large SQL7 database that is also loaded on this machine.

I loaded the service pack 6a Security Rollup package(Q299444). This seemed to fix the problem then 2 days later I got the error again writing a large file to the hard drive. It now seems to happen every couple of days now. I fear that it will only get worse as time goes on.

If anyone else has had similar problems, your advice will be greatly appreciated.
