Hello,
My backup exec. just started giving me this error today

Event ID 58051

Description
ADAMM configuration error.
Unable to open device:
Device name: MediumChanger0.
Identifier: EXABYTE EXB-10e 1.9.

Nothing has changed on the system to the best of my knowledge. the backup ran fine lastnight and when we came in this morning to change the tapes is when it was "offline" I looked on the Veritas website but the only info I could find was the exact phrase the event viewer gave me.

my system
NT Server 4.0 sp5
Backup Exec Version 7 (multiserver)
Tape drive: EXABYTE EXB-10e 1.9. (10 tape jukebox)

Thanks in advance for any help

not to answer my own question, but maybe this will save someone else from forking out 90 bucks to find out all you need to do is copy one file.

Here are the steps.
1.Exit the backup exec gui.
2.Stop all backup exec services (starting with naming service)
3.From the same cd that backup exec was installed from (check about in the gui and cd.txt on the cd-rom)
4.Rename pvl.mdb located in the veritas directory on the hard drive to pvl.old
5.Copy pvl.mdb from the cd-rom located in the Winnt\utils directory to the BE directory on the hard drive.
6.Change the properties on pvl.mdb so it is not read only.
7.Start all backup exec services (starting with naming service).
8.Start backup exec and program should be ready.
