I have a SEB device attached to Option 11c. I think my vendor might have goofed it up. In the meantime I'm contemplating a new vendor to support me however, they insist that I upgrade my SEB.

I don't know enough about Event Buffer products on the market nor do I know what questions to ask.

Can anyone offer me some advice on what features I should be looking for?

p.s. Existing SEB is connected to phone line and more recently we've extended our LAN and it is geographically close to 11c. I think some of the devices on the market will generate e-mail messages? I think I like that feature.

Site event buffers are just modems. It's existing software, such as IRIS that will generate the paging and email functions that you are requesting. There are new SEB modems that will trap events on your Call Pilot, Symposium and other server based equipment but I have not worked with those yet. If you are looking for a newer SEB you should sit with your provider and ask them to give them to you. That's what you pay them for. If you tell them you are looking at a new vendor they will respond.

got to agree with the above, that falls on your vendor. we use sebs her at bell south that call remote maint on system errors, they work, but they are very slow (1200).. i hate to dial in at that speed so i ususlly use the core modem at 96. either way any vendor should provide the equiptment needed to satisfy your request
