I am creating a report that is somehow set to evaluate or print details during Print rather than Preview. The thing is I do not know what function to use to evaluate if the user report is still in preview or the print command button is clicked to send out to the printer.

Do we have anything like this?

Print (to a printer) and Preview (print to the screen) are the same thing.

Crystal is finished and won't reevaluate anything

Just a note on this.. are you previewing to the last page of the report prior to printing? crystal only evaluates up to the page you are currently viewing to save resources/speed up the process. if you preview to the last page of the report, the evaluations that take place during printing, should have completed instead during preview. Give it a try and let us know.
Thanks!

Thanks for the prompt response. Considering that we do not know what the user will do during preview or how many pages the generated report will be, we decided on a workaround.

Currently, we took out the print button from the preview window for any report that will perform updates to the system during report printing. If the user decides to print the report, he/she has to go back to the report dialog box and click on the Print button and that is when we invoke the update.

Not so neat a process but that will do for now.

I take it that they are exiting the CR viewer and relaunching the report from your application but this time to directly print the report...do I have that correct?

Sounds like this is all you can do if the report data can be changed that fast.

Yes, you are right on that score. The user has to relaunch and send the report directly to the printer to be able to print the report and update the data.

Maybe Crystal will decide to add such enhancement where you can actually capture what the user is doing in the preview window. I hope.
