Evaluating data when a field equal 130 then insert effective date of 130 1

I am creating a report need help. I want if the value of a field is 130 then insert the effective date of value else blank

here is what i have so far.

if {table.field}=130 then {table.effective_dt} else blank

please help

Create the formula in the formula editor just as you did, except leave out "else blank". Drop the new formula into the text box.

I did that. I the error "A boolean is required here."

You are creating the formula in the wrong place. You should go into the field explorer->formulas->new and enter it there. It sounds like you incorrectly entered this in a selection formula area or in a field formatting area.

thanks for the prompt response. I did as instructed. Now the error message is "The Keyword "function" is missing.

Can't view that. In the formula, check "Crystal" syntax--it is probably set to "basic" right now.
