I am working with Source Safe.
I create a file with € in the name of the file.
Here how it goes:
DOS prompt
In Source Safe win32 dir execute command

SS Create MyFile€

Look in Source Safe. The file is created with the right name
next command

SS dir

You will see MyFile_

Now try another command
This dumps output into the file

SS dir -O@a.txt

You will see the name MyFile€

Can somone explaine me why it works this way
and how I can get the € from the DOS prompt and not from the file.

Thanks in advance.

The best way is to avoid using of euro, %, $ \, #, :, ; ... in filenames.

I can see that Euro Symbol is not shown properly in my post.
Whenever you see € it is EuroSymbol.

Not to use in the filename is a good idea but Microsoft allows to do it, so it is not invalid char therefore you can use it.
You may use it in the comments area of the submitted file. Then you will get the same problem.

If I do the same thing with CVS system then everything works fine.

I just want to be able to find the way to read command line output and display it right.

I would also like to know why it happens. In my opinion there is something going wrong with code points. Obviously
Source Safe sends back the code point for the EuroSymbol which is interpreted as underscore in the dos prompt.
