EtherPeek doesn't display DSL info/traffic

Hello all,
I just installed EtherPeek 4.2, and it works OK with my dial-up adapter (all data are collected and displayed as they should). However, with the DSL adapter, packets are captured and decoded, and they're also included in the 'general' part of the Summary tab; but the rest of the information (nodes, protocols, conversations, size, the rest of the summary, etc.) is blank.

I have worked with other sniffers/analyzers (CaptureNet, CommView, LANscan...), and it's the first time that I see this behaviour; they've always worked OK with both connections.

I use Windows 98 SE; don't have Ethernet card, just the DSL access+modem, and a dial-up connection (which works as expected with EtherPeek); the DSL modem is a Copperjet 800. I'm using EtherPeek just on this machine; I have no network.

If anyone could help a bit, I'd really, really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi darkmatter,

I would be interested in finding out what you learned from Wildpackets. They are typically responsive with straightforward questions like yourself.

I obviously don't think you'll get much help from these folks, and with good reason.

I just reviewed the current version of Etherpeek (4.2.1) and does not mention DSL decode support.

I suggest you try and see how far you get. If you need an extra ear to bounce something off of, let me know and we'll take it off line.

Regards

EtherPeek is designed as an Ethernet analyzer but it's been discovered that it will actually attempt to read from many of the Windows device drivers. EtherPeek is not a WAN analyzer. You get some degree of capture from a DSL line but it's really only an artifact of the design, and not a supported feature.
