I need to take SNMP packets coming in over Ethernet and convert them to SNMP over Fibre Channel to be rerouted. Is there any shareware / freeware out there to handle an Ethernet -> Fibre Channel conversion for SNMP (running on Linux)?

thats not software related. You are just talking about switching mediums. Your router or switch should handle all of the decapsulation and encapsulation.....The IP headers with the well known port (socket, whatever) should remain untouched.

Hi there,
I'm not that much into SAN/NAS.
But isn't there also a protocoll called Fibre Channel (Fiber Channel) used for communication inside of a SAN?
So the question might not be solved by a switch.
bye,
busche
