I'm new to apple so have mercy. I have a I-MAC with a build-in ethernet port. When i check the tcpip settings the ethernet adapter does not show, only the ppp adapter. How do I get the ethernet card to show and configure, thanks.

Check control panel appletalk and check that it is bound to the ethernet port.

if you click where it says ppp it should have a list for built in ethernet port change it to that and if that does not show up go to apple system profile and see if the port show up there if it does not you can try a clean install off the cd or you might have a hard where problem.

Hey gunthnp where is the apple system profile? Thanks.

go to the apple in the top right before file it is the third option in that list when you click on the apple.

Thanks I'll try it out.
