I'm going to change one of my adapters from auto_negotiate to 100_full_duplex, but I don't want to reboot. Can I just smitty chgenet and change it here or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks

You shouldnt need to reboot, but you will need to temporarily down your interface to change the speed.

IE:

chdev -l en0 -a media_speed=100_Full_Duplex

Its been a while since I have had to change the NIC speed, so... you may also need to down the interface first, change the speed and bring it back up.

Either way, you should not have to reboot.

arg.... just read my answer - definately had more than one thought pattern going...

No need to reboot, but you may need to down the interface to make the change.

#ifconfig en0 down
#chdev -l en0 -a media_speed=100_Full_Duplex
#ifconfig en0 up

DONE!

Reboot not necessary.
