I can hook up through a router but not straight to modem.
It gets an Ip address but says no server found.This computer is going to college this weekend Help

If hooked to the modem where does it get an IP from? Does your ISP provide DHCP?
 
do you get link to the modem? are you using a crossover cable?

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
 
You could try setting the internet up again to search for a different proxy server.

Thanks to everyone It was (COMCAST) I was fixing the computer for a friend. Now comcast is only allowing one ip address per modem if you hook up another computer you have to unplug the modem and reset the modem.
