hi,
i just installed Fedora core 5 on a new machine and it cannot connect to network for some reason. when i type in"service network start" i get an error saying:
Bringing up lookupback interface: [OK]
Bringing up interface eth0: Device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization [FAILED]

I have checked for the ethernet card and it seems to be present and even packets are either coming into the network (light at the ethernet is blinking). I am not sure what else to check. There is no "/etc/modules.conf" file either (nor /etc/conf.modules).

Any idea?
Thanks

try run netconfig and setup the initial ifcfg-eth0 file,

You may check for its existance and eventually edit it in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/

Cheers
