Hi All

I am about to get a broadband connection and buy an ADSL modem for it. I have seen a 3-COM with ethernet & a Samsung with USB at about the same price, and I was wondering which would be best to buy, and if there might be any differences from a speed or connection reliability point of view.

Thanks in advance for any comments you have.

trevthetec,

I would recommend the 3Com with the ethernet interface. USB can be flaky at times. Using the ethernet will also allow you to switch to a router effortlessly later on if you decide to share the internet connection with multiple computers.

Hope that helps.

"Generally replacing the USB modem for an ethernet based device appears to lower pings by around 5-10ms, some people see more improvement than others. The other advantage is that it removes the CPU load of the USB modem from the PC - for gamers every CPU cycle is precious. " I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
