I have 2x 10/100 Ethernet cards in an alpha cluster running OpenVMS 7.2 set to 10Mbs/Half. We have had network upgraded to 100 MB and I need to change the settings. I know how to do this. But what else should I do? eg: Do I need to shut down server? Can I just pull cables and swap for new ones then change device config? Can I down the interface - if so how?
Any info/procedure gratefully recieved Mike davison

What networks are you running? LAT DECNET(IV-V) TCP(UCX,MULTINET)?

You should first change the settings in the firmware. Halt to the three >>> and execute all the (>>>set ewaX_mode) you have to and then boot OVMS. If the configure procedure does'nt accept the console params, then you mmight need a ECO kit or maybe in your systartup_vms.com there is a line like ($mc lancp set dev ewa0/media=twi/speed=100) or something like that "hard coding to 10MB"!.

If no such line is present. And you don't get 100 full. Then Just type the lines yourself in real time. See if they are ok and then get them into a procedure for systartup_vms.com to call into during boot. Even better if you bath que the thing.

Regards. L8ter!
