Hi,

I've knackered the etherchannel on my 5.2 machine. After initially setting it up I decided to delete and start again. After removing the etherchannel through smit i decided to rmdev -dl the en & et devices assiciated with the deleted etherchannel. Since then if I try to configure again I get the following:

/usr/lib/methods/cfgech
0514-038 Error loading kernel extension.

Any ideas on how to resolve would be appriciated....

Try

smit cfgmgr

Ran it from the command line. I also removed all the ethernet devices and then did the cfgmgr to pick them up again to no avail.

Ok, have you tried the Micro$oft solution (reboot)

Forgot to ask what server model is it?

Its a 690 partition running AIX 5200-03. I removed all the ethernet devices and then rebooted and still no joy.

I've got a mksysb image from last night so the sledge hammer approach might have to be taken!

did you run diag -a to update the config DB?

I rebuilt the machine from mksysb in the end as it was pre-production and hence no users. After it was rebuilt I still had the problem. I fixed it by changing the state of ent0 (unconfigured NIC) from down to detach.

Cheers,
John

I was just about to say that... Not
