/etc/passwd and Shadow passwords

1 - In this version there is the shadow file by default?. If so why when I search the file I get "No / etc / shadow file found"?
2 - What does the "*" in etc / password? at the beginning of each password?
 
HP-UX can be configured to use TCB (Trusted Computer Base) to store security information about users (passwords, expiry dates, account lock status, etc.). You'll find these under /tcb/files/auth/u/username (where "u" is the first letter of the corresponding "username").

* in the password field in /etc/passwd just means that the password information is stored elsewhere, either in /etc/shadow, or more likely in your case, the TCB.
