VC will not let me choose the partition I created to store templates. The path is /vmimages/templates/ on the ESX server. The only option is either on the VC server itself or on one of the VMFS datastores. Does anyone know how to get it to use the other intended directory?

By the way may partition setup was done according to VMware's recommendations, where they even note creating this directory for templates.

Hi

I am pretty new to vmware myself, but my understanding is the partition for templates (.vmdt) files has to be a vmfs volume. The Vimages is for files such as your iso files etc.
The only way a template can be on anything other than a vmfs volume is if they are exported.
We have our templates in our /vmfs volume on a SAN, remember vmfs is a proprieory file system and is not linux.

Hope this help and has not led you astay.

I am sure if I am incorrect, I will hear the screams from where I am in Sydney Australia.

Regards

Dave
