Hi, I am having a difficulty installing ESX server 3.0.2 on to a SATA.
Replication steps as follows

First step: I selected the graphical mode. Then it displayed the following information.

“No hard drives have been found. You probably need to manually choose device drivers for the installation to succeed. Would you like to select drivers now?

1. YES 2.No

I selected YES.
Second step: It displayed the following information.

“The following devices have been found on your system.
nVidia NForce Network Controller (forcedeth)

1. DONE 2.ADD DEVICE.

I select ADD DEVICE and I get presented with a list of drivers however none of the driver appears to be suitable for the hard drive as it won’t let me load any of them.

I select "DONE" than installation continues

ESX Welcome page> keyboard selection>Mouse Config>EU License Agreement> next than below message appears

“An error has occurred, no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems, please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.”

I can install ESX 2.5.3 on to the same machine without a problem but can’t understand why the version 3.0.2 won’t see the hard drive??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
For anyone having the same issue, I found out that ESX doesn't support nVidia NForce chipsets on 3.0.2 release.

nVidia NForce supported on 3.0.2 Update 1 so upon downloading Update 1 release everything went ok. :)
