Has the calculation changed between SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 on how to calculate a tables estimated storage size.

In SQL Server 2000 it is well described at but I can't find a reference anywhere for SQL 2005. It's one of the objectives for the MCTS exam I'm taking (Eek!) on Tuesday.

At the back of my mind I seem to remember something about variable fields now being treated differently in SQL 2005.

Many thanks.

That formula should continue to work fine in SQL 2005.

Skittle,
If you search BOL 2005 for estimate table size you can get a little more info on how to calculate a heap table, clusterd and non clusterd indexes.

..by the way Mr Denny...I think you are becoming a certification addict.
Your certs are getting bigger than your postings!)
You should change your handle to 'Captain Certification', the IT superhero!

No problem.

Yeah, I've picked up a few certs. I've only got 3 more that I'm working on. Yeah, the sig file is starting to get a little long.
