What are the procedures to testing your ESS? We have 3 three in our system and they havent been actually tested. The first ESS is working we found out when the main server lost power.

Thanks

turn off the main server and other two.....or status node etc

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)

I'm aware of how to hard power down the server and testing it that way but is there a way to do it remotely as well.

log into the SAT of the ESS you want to become active and run this command:
get forced-takeover ipserver-interface all

Or you can select the port number.
Enter 'all' or 'port-network X' where X is a port-network number 1-64

Then run the same command from the main server to bring them back.

Wait!! the ESS doesnt have a port-network number.

So you have G4XX Media Gateways only?

You could disable the Processor Ethernet on the Main server.

From SAT on the MAIN server run:

change ip-interface procr

Then change the y to a n:
Enable Interface? n

***WARNING*** this WILL interrupt service.

Then from the other ESS that you already know works, run the same command.

You should also log into each of your media gateways and copy off the configuration. Check the MGC List,Reset-Times and Transition-Points to make sure they are set the way you want them.
Also on the SAT of the Main server, check the Recovery Rule for each media gateway and run change system-parameters mg-recovery-rule X (where X is the assigned recovery rule number). Make sure the recovery rule is as expected.
