Where do I go to change ESS-2 - RESTRICTIONS to ESS-0 - NO RESTRICTION? I keep looking for the menu and I am not able to find it. I already went to Extensions -> Restrictions and made the extension Unrestricted, but that has not taken the calling restrictions off.

Thanks in advance,

Well this is just one of 7 or 8 ways you can restrict an extension.

IF your extension is restricted because of it's ESS Status, then you have your ESS STATUS set to HOTEL MOTEL, not group calling.

Go to OPTIONS, and change the ESS STATUS to Group Calling, and that should take care of it.

(Unless of course, you are in a hotel environment)

I once had an Armed Forces Dorm that was using both HOTEL ROOMS and a Group for Reservations... - Can only do 1, not both.

Well now, that is truly a horse of another color indeed.

Is you system, by chance, set up in KEY Mode rather than Hybrid PBX?

ok. But I am not trying to make ARS works. I am just trying to provide access so a line that is currently setup as ESS-2 - RESTRICTIONS to ESS-0 - NO RESTRICTION. And from what I have read, I thought I was supposed to go to the ARS Menu to change this. If this is not the case, then how do allow the phone access?

Thanks,

ok. I found a good the fix and I wanted to shared with others:

In Hotel mode, the extension may be restricted from making calls.

What to do: Check the Extension Status of the extension by observing its lights on the operator’s DLC. To do this, change the console from a normal operator position to a
calling supervisor’s console by pressing the Feature button and dialing 32, then touching the Hold button. Check either the red light next to the extension’s DSS button or the green light next to the Auto Dial button programmed for the extension.
• If the light is flashing or on, the extension is restricted from making outside calls. To change the Extension Status to 0 and remove restrictions, press the Feature button and dial 760; then press the DSS button for the extension. Change the console back to normal operator status by pressing the Feature button and dialing 32 and then pressing the Drop button. Try again to make an outside call. If you can, you have solved the problem. If you cannot, go to Possible Cause 9.
• If the light is off, change the console back to the normal operator position by pressing the Feature button and dialing 32 and then pressing the Drop button.

Gladys,

You were stating you wanted to change a LINE.

It turns out, you wanted to change an extension, am I correct?

SO, you probably wanted to do away with HOTEL MOTEL Mode of ESS, or did you?

Hmm. I am not sure were the misunderstanding happen since I kept mentioning about changing Extension Restrictions. The only thing I mentioned is that I was not able to go to the ARS to do the change and that I had already changed the phone system from Hotel to Normal mode but for some reason it did not released it so I did the above steps and the extension started working fine.
