1.setup an oracle database, and let users test on it.-> test OLTP
2.do a restore of a FS ( thru tivoli or so ), copy large files ( eg DB-files) from one place to another,.... -> test sequential read write
these are the performance tests we are having executed for our new fast-t for the moment.
or another simple way if you dont have the mentioned software on the test box, you can just make a script to create some very large volume groups and filesystems and do copies of data etc.... Thats what we did in my test environment and it proved to be very fast on the new 800 I was impressed....
