I have an Ess Allegro and Win Me, and the soundcard has loaded and is working fine is as much as when the volume for windows is at max i can play winamp etc, however the volume will fade back to minimum using the Windows Volume control, over a period of 5 seconds. so i set the windows master volume to max, and its ok, then the scroll bar starts dropping to minimum all on ists own..

Any suggestions, i have no idea whats causing it its an Ess1988 chipset SC2000a card. And has been working fine for 6months on the same pc running win 98 SE. Its using a Win ME driver and not the old VXD files..

Sounds weird. only thing I can think of if its not a virus then would it be possible your mic is switched on and its automatically adjusting the volume to compensate for feedback. Try turning mic off. If your unsure....Dont do it!

Hey, any luck getting it to work? Im having the same problem with the allegro 1989 chip except for the fact im runing winnt 4.

If you mail the blokes at ESSfrom thier website they are prompt, and the problem was a registry entry, but i have deleted themail. It will effect WinNT/XP/ME/2000 PC's

theanswerVirusseems to be a common thread on this website, and there are a fewaround, but a bit more thechnicaladvice would be useful!
